Hi.. I currently have two machines with Win 7 Media Center. Neither one has a capture card at the moment. But I am considering purchasing the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250. MY questions is, will I be able to stream content from this card to my other Win 7 Media Center machines? And will I be able to control the content from the machine I am currently watching even if is not the machines with the installed card... Thanx for any advice...
Hi Danj67,
The quick answer is sort of.
The standard Windows 7 Media center solution will not let you stream the content around the other machines.
The only way i know of doing this currently is the DVBLink software which allows you to set up your tuner cards as 'network' tuners.
Check out Garry's Blog on this for more details.
An alternative , is the HDHomerun products from Silcon dust that provide the same
functionality in a simple form factor.
Currently , I favour the later since it ensures that you dont need two full PCs running to watch TV, wheres the DVBLink solution is quite new and does require a full PC to act as the 'server'.

VMC 32Bit, 7MC 64bit, 7MC 32bit, 36TB Home Media Server, VOIP.
Thanx Dale...
Ill look into that as an option. I think it may be just what I am looking for..
And Media Center has no problems picking up the channels from this device?
I have the UK version and it works fine. The bonus is that it works across platforms should
you introduce something other than a WMC.
Ian covered it in a post last year , check this out :
