Richard Miller MCE MVP
Hello again!
I purchased my card from DVBshop.de! Their answer goes as follow!
"It is a generic problem with MCE 2005. MCE does so-called 'opportunistic scanning' that is each time you tune to a transponder it does a scan of that transponder & checks if any channels have been added or removed. For channels that do not transmit 24 hours per day this emans that the may keep being removed. If a channel is sharing a PID then it will be replaced by the other channel. Particularly when the signal is not 100% MCE can think that new channels have been added. This is not a Technotrend specific problem but happens with all DVB-T channels. The fix as noted in an earlier reply is to upgrade to Vista."
So i have to give 500 euro (Vista Ultimate cost in Greece) to solve my problem! I can't believe that there is no way to stop that "opportunistic scanning"
Many thanks again!
Hello once more,
The german shop pointed me to a direction to solve my problem! a partial sollution! http://www.mce-community.de/forum/index.php?showtopic=5691&st=0 ! I can't speak german and google translate just made it worst! Pls take a look and i am sure that you might explain me what i could do until a fix for this issue come up!
Thanks again
Goodmorning,
The solution described above is about a smart app called mce2dvbs (if there was a way i would add it as an attachment)! With this app it is possible to create a channel exclusion list in order to stop MCE from adding specific channels to channel list! The app actually did what was supposed to do but mce managed to delete this time some channels from my list resulting to a mess up once more! So i am back where i started! Ian have you found anything new?
Thanks
hi Ian,
I listened the show, thanks a lot!
Christos, I answered your question on http://www.dvbshop.net/forum/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9255&sid=1f940fdbf565e927ca47e50768941f13 but obviously you didn't like my answer:-)
There is no way to switch off opportunistic scanning in MCE. Your probably have a poor satellite signal so that there are different numbers of channels at different times when MCE scans.
Please remember that DVB-S is not supported in MCE by Microsoft. Technotrend have produced drivers that fool MCE into thinking that it is a DVB-T card. You can see these same problems with DVB-T. If you do not have programme guide data for your satellite channels in MCE what is the advantage of using MCE versus another DVB viewing application?
BTW You can buy an upgrade copy of Vista much cheaper than 500 Euros from Amazon.
Hello Nigelbb,
yes i didn't like your answer ! I can't afford 250 euro for an operating system that it was released 1 month ago! What if it solves this problem and another comes up! i 've already spent a lot of money so far! There must be a way arround it! If not i prefer to buy a box for 150 and solve all my problems! it's a pity because i have already spent time and money and if it was working it would be the best sollution!
Hello,
Upgraded to Vista and everything works just fine! I would like to thank you all! The ttautodecoder seems to work ok, its almost a week now since i have made the upgrade and had no probs! The problem with the MCE 2005 remains though!
Many thanks to Ian, Richard and Nigelbb
