If you have more than 1 hard drive in your Home Server then the files on D:\Shares may not be the actual files. With duplication turned on, there is a good chance these files will just be tombstones, not the actual files. By using this method to try and sync multiple computers you could corrupt the data on your WHS.

The proper way to access data on a WHS is through a network share name (e.g. \\servername\sharename). Unfortunatly Live Mesh doesn't currently support network shares, so I think we're still waiting for a good solution for this.

For more info about how WHS uses tombstones & the D:\ drive check here: social.microsoft.com/.../9f819941-715f-4f54-9d3c-d7f1de8531ae
