Back on show #153 I interviewed Melloware about Intelliremote, an advanced remote control solution for Media Center. Now Melloware have updated Intelliremote so you can control Windows Media Center from an iPhone or a iPod Touch. So if you have either devices you may as well make use of as a remote for Media Center. The application is available from the iPhone AppStore and is free to existing Intelliremote PC application.

Features:

  • Complete control of all your Windows applications from your iPhone.
  • No "line-of-sight" needed to control your Home Theatre PC which may be stored in a closet or somewhere esle out of the way in your house.
  • While Apple has provided an iPhone remote for ITunes...what about the rest of us that don't use ITunes but want to control our media center PC?

More details on Intelliremotes download page

Update:

The app is still "Under Review" from Apple but should be release to the AppStore any day now.

Thanks for posting Ian.   The app is still "Under Review" from Apple but should be release to the AppStore any day now.    It's my one major complaint against Apple is that they are reviewing every single application before they post it to AppStore.

Intelliphone is finally released! Look in the Appstore under Melloware or Intelliremote to find it.

You can also take a look at the inControl application in case you are looking for an iPhone/iPod Touch application for controlling Vista Media Center, your TV, receiver, and any other device connected to your computer using RS232. You can also browse the Media Center program guide within the iPhone/iTouch application.

You should also have a look at the vmcMote iPhone app in case you want to be able to remote your music with your TV switched off.

vmcMote is a two-way remote app for the iPhone to control Windows Media Center (VMC and 7MC). Therefore, it syncs your music database, lets you enqueue music, search in your music db, shows you the currently playing track, lets you skip inside the current track via a slider, ....

there is also a Lite version in the store to try it: itunes.apple.com/.../id315349067

inControl, mentioned above, now also has support for Windows 7!

Full support for Windows 7 has been added in inControl Server v1.0.5 which is now available for download here:

www.incontrol.byethost7.com/index.php

It requires the program information to be manually configured and detailed instructions can be found here:
