Consumer Electronics Installer Blog : In-room Extender Design Strategy

Previously Microsoft's Consumer Electronics installer blog talked about using Media Center with a rack mounted solution for distributing content around the home. While this was a interesting solution the idea of having all the equipment in a rack (including Extenders) didn't seem the best solution to me as you then had to distribute the audio, video and IR signals around the home. A better solution for me is to have the Extenders at the end points in the network, in other words in each room and this is exact scenario the Customer Installer Blog is looking at today. This time the solution has the Windows Media Center PC in the rack and the Extenders connected to a display and audio receiver , for me this is the best way of doing it and the way I use it but the post does point out some of the disadvantages .
