Do you want MediaFlo on your mobile in the UK?

Slightly off topic for Media Center but definitely digital lifestyle is TV on mobile devices. There are a few ways of achieving it, using the data service and streaming TV via Orb or Webguide is one way or using something MediaFlo where the TV signal is broadcast over the air. According to Silicon Alley Insider Qualcomm won a slice of wireless spectrum in the U.K. This means they could offer mobile TV service via a special handset. The question is do you want it and would you pay for it? According to the post:

"One reason to be optimistic: U.K. mobile subscribers are more likely to already watch video on their phones than their U.S. counterparts. Almost 10% of U.K. subs watch TV on their phones, versus 6% in the U.S, according to research firm M:Metrics."

I am not sure I would want it, I prefer recorded TV on my Zune or UMPC. What about you? Do you want it and if your in the US what is your opinion?

Hi Ian - interesting topic.. Mobile TV has been around for some time but there is not really an appetite for it - except maybe rolling news or sport.

For me it is all about "side loading" as they call it in the US or syncing. On my touch I either watch video podcasts from itunes, or record from Sky via my Pinacle Video Transfer. What a great piece of kit - plug into video source, plug in memory stick (512k = 60min) press play on STB, press record on pinacle and go to bed. In the morning transfer into itunes and then sync - hey presto I'm watching ManU while killing myself on the cross trainer. I do have a slingbox but never managed to get this working with a mobile device.

So my (long winded) view is "no" I wouldn’t tune into live TV just stick to downloads of which there are an increasing number... Cheers Nick
